Kazakhstan - Denied Entry!!!!!

We arrived in Kazakhstan around 11:30 Monday night the 30th. I wasn't allowed to purchase a visa because I didn't have an official "invitation letter." I was told to "leave the country on the next flight back to Dushanbe (but my Tajik visa only allowed one entry into their country ....)." Apparently an invitation letter is not needed if you get a visa through the Kazakh embassy in Washington, D.C., but an invitation letter is needed if you want to get a visa in the Almaty airport (I am going to write a letter of protest). I was able to get a two day transit visa since we planned to leave on Wednesday by car anyways (waited until after midnight so it would be good the 31st to the 1st).
